Sloppy Joe's
Author: Emily @cooking_emily
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
1 pound lean ground beef (I use 93% lean, 7% fat)
1/2 cup chopped white onion
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 cup + 1 TBS True Made Foods Ketchup
¼ cup crushed tomatoes or tomato sauce ( I use these)
¼ cup water
¼ tsp salt ( I like this brand)
4 buns
Directions:
In a medium skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef & onion until the beef is no longer pink. Using paper towel, blot the meat in order to soak up some of the grease ( This is an important step!! I’ve tried not taking out the grease and the sloppy joe lost flavor bc the grease overpowered the other flavors!).
Then stir in the garlic powder, ketchup, tomato sauce, water, and salt. Mix thoroughly.
Reduce heat to low and cover the pan with tin foil, allowing it to simmer for at least 30 minutes before serving.
Enjoy on buns with lettuce, onion, or plain jane!
Store in the fridge in an air-tight container for 3-4 days.
