The Ultimate College Guide: Dorm Essentials
I didn’t realize how many random items I needed for college until my mom and I went dorm shopping so alas, here is a LONG list of items! Some are typical, some are more shocking (ie: nail clippers, like who thinks of buying those for college?? Thanks ma!)
Shower Necessities:
shampoo
conditioner
face wash
body wash
razor (and shaving cream if you use it )
bath loofah (or wash cloths, whichever you prefer!)
shower towel
Other Toiletries:
toothpaste
toothbrush
floss
deodorant
hair brush/comb
Q-tips
hair ties
mini first aid kit (let’s hope this won't be needed all that often)
extra bandaids (gotta be prepared )
nail clippers (!!!) and/or nail file
makeup mirror (for your desk) and/or full-length mirror
body lotion
face lotion (or maybe you use body lotion for your face like me oops haha )
sunscreen (depends where you’re going to school)
chapstick
Nightstand Necessities:
Bunk bed hanging organizer (since let’s be real, nightstands in a college dorm aren’t a thing)
Kleenex
lotion
chapstick
flashlight (??)
Technological Needs:
phone charger
headphones
surge protector (aka more plugs to charge phone, computer, etc)
computer
computer charger
Feminine Hygiene:
tampons
pads
makeup removing wipes
Laundry Thinggggs:
detergent
dryer sheets {definitely don’t need but they help reduce static and they make your clothes smell fresh and like home :) }
laundry bag
stain stick (I spill easily… maybe you don’t need one lol)
To Keep Your Dorm Clean:
Clorox wipes
paper towel
Closet:
ultra-thin huggable hangers (they save a lot of room in your closest compared to the plastic ones)
Hanging closet organizer (to save space in closet)
Random:
if you have contacts, don’t forget contact solution and lots of pairs of contacts!
if you have glasses, bring cleaning spray ( or just use a cotton shirt haha)
cough drops
gum
safety pins
command hooks (to hang coats, lights, calendar, etc)
wall calendar
small lamp or light for your desk so you can use that at night if your roommate is sleeping
