Turkey Chili
Chili, one of my favorite foods in the world! Here is the tried and true turkey chili recipe from my mama!
Turkey Chili
Serves: 12-15 ( we always freeze half of the chili for a quick and easy meal another night!)
Ingredients:
3 large garlic cloves
2 average-sized (medium) yellow onions
2.5 pounds ground turkey (we like 93% lean, 7% fat)
4 15 oz cans of your favorite beans, rinsed and drained ( we use whatever we have on hand: black beans, pinto beans, kidney beans, and Great Northern beans are all great!)
1 30 oz can diced tomatoes, juice and all!
3 oz tomato paste (aka half of one of the little cans)
2 cups organic frozen corn ( we buy ours from Trader Joe's)
3 TBS + 1 tsp chili powder
2 TBS organic white sugar (coconut sugar would also work)
2 cups water
Directions:
Heat a large pan on medium-high.
Finely chop the onions and mince the garlic.
Add the ground turkey, garlic, and onion to the heated pan. Chop up the meat up to help it cook faster. Cook until the meat is done (no longer pink).
While the turkey is cooking, add the beans, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, frozen corn, chili powder, sugar, and water to a large pot. Simmer on medium-low for 45 minutes (the longer the better)!
Serve hot with cheese, sour cream, or whatever floats your boat!
Store in the fridge for up to 4 days.
ENJOY!
